Mooresville, Indiana covers 5.6 square miles in Morgan County, and according to the 2020 United States Census, Mooresville has a population of 9,411 people. The town enjoys a prime location by being close to the Indianapolis International Airport and is only ten miles southwest of Indianapolis via State Road 67 as well as Interstates I‑70 and I‑465.

Besides the financial benefits of being located so close to Indianapolis, Mooresville is continually working to improve its own economic stability. According to the Greater Mooresville Chamber of Commerce, the area is a prime location for new businesses to locate due to the low tax and utility rates, ready access to worldwide distribution, and community driven economic incentives. The growth of the area even led to Mooresville being nicknamed the "Crossroads of Progress."

Founded in 1824 by Samuel Moore, the four original blocks which he planned for the town are now listed among the National Historic Districts. The area also earned the nickname "Flag Town" due to the fact that the Indiana State Flag was designed by Mooresville resident Paul Hadley in response to the contest for designs held by the state during its 1916 centennial anniversary.

The Mooresville Consolidated School Corporation is home to five public elementary schools offering classes from kindergarten to sixth grade. The middle school houses grades seven and eight and the Mooresville High School serves students form ninth to twelfth grade. In another demonstration of the area's dedication to preserving its history, the building which housed the first school in Mooresville is the current home of the Academy of Hoosier Heritage, a local history museum listed in the National Historic Register.
