Beech Grove, Indiana, is a city located within the Greater Indianapolis Metropolitan area. The city rests in a total area of 4.3 square miles inside of the I‑465 loop. According to the United States Census Bureau, Beech Grove had a total population of 14,717 in 2020. Beech Grove's location also places it within four separate townships in Marion County (Perry, Franklin, Center and Warren). Beech Grove also shares its name with cities in both Kentucky and Arkansas.

Beech Grove may be located within what is traditionally considered the Indianapolis area, but the community takes pride in maintaining a unique sense of individuality. The town has proven to be a center of spiritual inspiration throughout its 100+ years of incorporation. Beech Grove is home to St. Francis Hospital, a facility that was founded by the Sisters of St. Francis of Perpetual Adoration in 1914. A number of churches in the city can also trace their congregations beginnings to the early 1900s.

The city also has its own school district. The Beech Grove City Schools offers its residents 5 different schools for children from Kindergarten to 12th grade. There are also two private schools offering classes for K-12, the Nazarene Christian School and the Holy Name of Jesus School.

While Beech Grove is essentially a residential area within the metropolitan borders of Indianapolis, it is still a town that is working to improve its unique economic circle. A recent revitalization project, the Better Brighter Beech Grove Project, is a multi-million dollar effort intended to provide big dividends for both real estate and business interests. This project is comprised of eight different sub projects involving both natural improvements to the parks and greenways, modernization of the city's business district and repurposing of otherwise unused property within the city limits.

When you consider the age of the city and its projects to improve you see a place that is dedicated to it's residents. Beech Grove, Indiana, in Marion County has both a history to be proud of and a future to look forward to.
