Avon Indiana is found in the Washington Township of Hendricks County. A western suburb of Indianapolis, Avon covers an area of almost six and a half square miles. According to the 2020 Census report Avon can now claim a population 21,474.

Indianapolis, the Circle City of Central Indiana, is less than ten miles east of Avon on US 36, also known as the Ernie Pyle Memorial Highway. Avon enjoys the benefits of being located less than 13 miles north west of the Indianapolis International Airport and almost 11 miles from the world famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway; Home to the Indianapolis 500 and to the Brickyard 400. Although Avon might not be known for its tourism it does offer a number of attractions. Among them, the Avon Perennial Gardens, five acres of display gardens and artfully landscaped water features that showcase the natural beauty Indiana has to offer.

Due to its status as a satellite city of Indianapolis, Avon continues to be a family centered community. Serving Washington Township, the Avon Community School Corporation consists of two high schools, two middle schools, two intermediate schools and seven elementary schools that are supporting a population of close to 9,000 students. The Avon school system is also known throughout the country for the success of the Avon High School music program. The Avon Marching Black and Gold have been ranked first in the state for nine out of the last ten years.

The town has also maintained and improved two parks of over 50 acres. Over 100,00 visitors a year come out to enjoy the Washington Township Community Park, host of the  annual Avon Heritage Festival.

While still being considered a small town, Avon is currently experiencing a population boom that is comparable to only a few other towns in the nation because of  its easy access to Indianapolis. With a direct route to stable and thriving business opportunities and a dedicated attitude to supporting its residents Avon has declared itself as one of the premier residential choices in Indiana.
